Countdown to Happiness

If you are unhappy in life, you are probably not tuned to happiness. If you want a perfect reception on your radio, you have to tune into the radio station you are interested in. Adjust the antenna a little bit, if necessary. But you have to do that if you really want to ensure a clear reception. Perfect tuning adds to your listening pleasure.
Likewise, there is a formula to happiness. I don’t know if you have heard of it—but it is called the countdown to happiness. You begin with number 9 and go right down to 0. It is a 10-point program. Let the countdown begin. Here goes: 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0

9 – Have a lot of water. Make it a part of your daily routine. If you don’t have sufficient water in your body, you may become a victim of dehydration. And, that could lead to a lot of complications with regard to your health. Stay healthy—drink a lot of water. Aim for nine glasses of water a day. That’s a good number to begin with.
8—Get sufficient sleep. Eight hours of sleep is the desired level. But if you cannot get sleep for eight hours in one go, make up for the loss by grabbing a nap whenever you can. Remember, sleep deprivation can lead to death. So, don’t take this lightly.

7—Look at the seven wonders of the world. Think of the people who created them. Think of how they were created. That will open the floodgates of your imagination. If your imagination runs wild and lands up on a fertile patch, you may end up in a wonderland. The sky is the limit for imagination and what it can do to you.

6—Money is not everything. But sooner or later, you will realise that life is difficult without regular income streams. You must put in place, a dependable income and saving plan, for your life. You must aim for a 6-digit-monthly-income to ensure a secure life. If you fall a little short of that, you would still be okay.

5—Try to settle for a five-days-a-week job or work schedule. Human body needs rest to revive its energy levels from time to time. Even God took a break on the seventh day which was ‘Sunday,’ in the midst of creation. Human beings are lesser beings in comparison. So, we need at least two days a week, or a weekend, to recover from our sapped energy levels after working for several days.

4—Plan for a 4-wheeler. Two-wheelers are neither safe nor comfortable. And, if you have four members in your family, two-wheelers are out of the question. A two-wheeler just can’t accommodate four persons.
3—Whether you wish to remain single or get married is a matter of choice. But, if you decide to marry and get into the family way, plan for two children. So, if you are planning to get married, go for a 3-bedroom house. Otherwise, you may have to share your room with your children which is okay. But they may prefer some element of privacy when they grow up.

2—If you intend to get married and have children, two is the ideal number. If you are fortunate, you will have a boy and a girl. That is desirable for proper growth and development of the children. We have an interesting family planning slogan in Hindi; ‘Hum Do—Hamare Do!’. Translated to English, it reads something like this: ‘Two of us, and, two for us!’ I hope you get the point?

1—Whether you are a girl or a boy, try to have just one sweetheart. Be loyal to your sweetheart. There is nothing quite blissful as the love of loyal partners. Flirts may believe in their perverted philosophy of ‘More the merrier.’ But, such relationships, more often than not, end up in big mess.

0—If you follow the 9 preceding points to the hilt, the odds are that you will enjoy a tension-free life. That is the secret of life. That is the secret of good health. And, that is the secret of and wealth. Enjoy your life. Be happy!
