All of us want to be happy. But do we know how to multiply our happiness? Do we know how we can stimulate happiness in us? Well, if you do not know how to stimulate happiness in you, here are a few lessons on how to do it.

Our body produces blood, sweat, urine and a whole lot of other things. In addition to these, it also secretes some chemicals—chemicals that are useful to our body and mind. Did you know that our body secretes some chemicals which are beneficial for us and help in enhancing our happiness?

That’s true! Our body secretes at least four happiness chemicals.And, the good news is that there are ways and means to activate your happiness chemicals. The four happiness chemicals released by our body are: Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Endorphin.

Dopamine is the reward chemical. Oxytocin represents love hormones. Serotonin is the mood stabiliser. And, Endorphin is the pain reliever.

You can trigger Dopamine in many different ways. It rewards you when you complete a task. It rewards you when you are engaged in self-care activities. It rewards you when you consume some food. It rewards you when you celebrate your success.

Similarly, you can facilitate release of Oxytocin or the love hormones by doing things that expresses your love for something or someone. That may include playing with your pet or playing with children. Oxytocin is released when you hold someone’s hands lovingly. It is also released when you hug or kiss someone (with their consent, of course!). Even offering a compliment to someone may trigger the release of Oxytocin.

Serotonin acts as the mood stabiliser. You can trigger Serotonin through meditation. You can also do that by jogging. Sunbathing or exposing yourself to the Sun can also trigger Serotonin. Remember, Sun is the main source of vitamin D. Spending time in the lap of nature could be another way of doing it. You can also do that by swimming or engaging in some other activities that release stress.

Endorphin induces pain relief. Laughing exercises can a good way of doing that. Getting a massage with essential oils could also relieve pain. Dark chocolates could also do their bit in relieving pain besides relieving stress. Jogging also helps in this process.

Take a cue from these and work towards enhancing your happiness.
