For those who thought of intelligence as just something that is associated with knowledge and wisdom, there’s more in store for you. Because, there’s not one but at least nine types of intelligence!

Visual intelligence is also known as spatial intelligence. People blessed with visual intelligence have a strong sense of imagery. They are able to visualize the world in 3D perspective. In other words, they are able to visualize the world in all its dimensions. They are picture smart.

People endowed with linguistic intelligence are word smart. They are sticklers for perfect communication. They are keen to find the right words to express their thoughts and feelings. They make great communicators.

Logical intelligence emerges from mathematical acumen. People with logical reasoning are good with numbers and have an incredible sense of reasoning. They display their talents in making hypotheses and proving them.

People with kinaesthetic intelligence are body smart. They are adept at coordinating their mind and their body. They understand the beauty of this syncronisation and benefit from it by using body movements and gestures as a form of non-verbal communication.

A naturalist is someone who studies nature and tries to understand the life and times of living beings. They are nature smart and are good at interpreting actions and behaviour of living beings and also unusual events pertaining to nature.

People with musical intelligence are sound smart. They are quick to note sounds, their pitch, tone, rhythm, etc. They recognise the musical notes and are good at catching tunes.

Existential intelligence helps address the curiosities of life and death. People equipped with existential intelligence are life smart. Their interests lie in exploring why we live, and why we die.

People with Interpersonal intelligence are people smart. They are good at reading others. They have an uncanny ability to sense people’s feelings and motives.
Intra-personal intelligence is found in people who are self-smart. They are people who are keen to understand themselves. They are very clear about what they feel and what they want in life.

So, the next time you hear about intelligence don’t get taken in by the simple meaning of intelligence. This word has more depth and perspectives than most of us imagine.
