Take Control of Your Life

If you are cribbing about the state of affairs in your life and blaming others for the bad things that have happened to you, you are actually confessing that you did not act in situations when you should have acted.

You are telling the world that by being passive in situations that demand action from you, you let others take control of the situation and put you in situations that you are cribbing about, now. So, you may be the one who is responsible for the mess you are in. Always remember that you are responsible for each and every action or inaction of yours.

However, nothing is lost yet. You can start correcting the situation the moment you decide to do so. Learn to own up responsibility for whatever you do irrespective of whether they end up in positive results or turn out to be wrong moves.

If you made the right moves, build on them. If your moves were not right, then acknowledge your mistakes. Then, learn from your mistakes and make course corrections—wherever it is expedient. That will lead you on to the right path. That’s the way to grow in life. Decide on a course of desirable action and start implementing that. To repeat what I said earlier—take control of your life.

When you see a red light glowing at an intersection, you stop there. But when that happens in your life, you not only stop but also reflect on it. When you think you are going too slow, you need to change gears and get on to the fast track. When you feel that you are driving at a breakneck speed endangering your life, take it easy and apply the brakes. Your life is more important than reaching your destination ahead of time.

When you see a speed breaker, slow down a bit. When you think you might ram into another vehicle, use your steering wheel to steer clear of the accident and apply the brakes to slow down your vehicle. Remember, you are responsible for most accidents unless someone slams you from behind. Those occasions are very rare.

The one lesson I am trying to drive home is that you need to Own up responsibility for all you do and take control of your life if you want to make progress in your life. And, if you have been driving in the wrong direction, just take a U-Turn and race towards your destination. You will gain nothing by blaming others for your faults. Your life is the greatest test of your driving skills. Happy driving.
