Whatever you do in life, do it with a 100% commitment. Do it with devotion and determination. Anything you do in a half-hearted fashion with a wavering mind is unlikely to bear fruit.
Most of us remember God when things go wrong. But do we really believe in God? If so, why do we wait until something goes wrong with us to turn to God for help? We rush to God when we are in trouble and start praying and hope that God will take care of everything. God is large-hearted. Maybe God will take care of everything. But, don’t you think we should have complete faith in God before we pray to God. Don’t you think it is important to believe in God before turning to God for help? Yes, indeed. We must first believe in God before we pray to God.
Everybody wants to have their say. We want to be the first to speak. That’s okay. Even in conversations, we have this bad habit of going on and on. We do not let others speak because we are so obsessed with what we want to say. Do you think that’s okay? Just as we have the right to speak, others too have their rights to speak. So, we have to keep our ears open and listen to what others have to say. Before we speak, we must learn to be good listeners.
All of us want to buy so many things. We want to spend on so many things. But we have limited resources. We never have enough money to buy everything we want. So, we take out loans to buy what we want and pay for the same in installments. Credit cards have done their bit to encourage us to spend what we do not have to buy what we want. The point is: it is never a good idea to get into debt. The golden rule is to earn before we spend.
We must do all the thinking before we start writing. That’s because we need to organize our thoughts before we pen them down. Unless we organize our thoughts, our writing will not have a smooth flow. Our thinking process plays an important role in building up a proper sequence in our writing.
When things don’t work out, we are in a hurry to quit. But studies have revealed that success is just a few steps away from where most people quit. So, the next time you decide to quit, just give it another try. You may succeed!
Human beings seem to live in a straitjacket. We seem to have everything worked out for us. So, all of us move on a similar path. A few years after we are born, we go to school and then to college. We educate ourselves and find a job. We slog through the years till we retire. By the time we retire, we are exhausted physically, mentally, and, in most cases—financially as well.
So, we live to a fixed schedule with little time or energy to enjoy ourselves and rejuvenate ourselves. We are always busy fixing up things in life till we die. The irony of our life is that we work ourselves to death and when we die, it would seem that we never really lived our life to the fullest.
In a nutshell, here are the six ethics of life: (1) before you pray – believe; (2) before you speak – Listen; (3) before you spend – earn; (4) before you write – think; (5) before you quit – try; and, (6) before you die – live.
