You will find millions of articles on what you should do to achieve success. In comparison, you will find very few articles dwelling on what not to do to achieve success. Well, here are some things that you would be better off, not doing:
Do Not Beg
If you start begging, it will become a habit over a period of time. And, you will end up being a beggar for life. It does not matter if you have no money…if you are poor. I know money means a lot in this world. Some people say that you cannot do anything without money. But that is not true. Human history is replete with rags-to-riches stories. There is no reason why you should not write one yourself and add it to the list of rags-to-riches stories. Remember what the founder of Microsoft and multi-billionaire, Bill Gates, who spends a huge chunk of his earnings on charity had to say on this? He said: “If you are born poor, it’s not your mistake, if you die poor its your mistake. This is a clarion call to find ways of earning money. If you push yourself, you will find a way to do that. And, once you learn how to make the first 1,000 dollars, you will learn how to carry your efforts forward and build a fortune.
Do Not Trust Anyone
This is a very important lesson in life. If you are in the habit of trusting everyone, be prepared to deal with breach of trust because that is inevitable in most of the cases. And, a breach of trust can shake your very roots. We all know that dog is humankind’s best friend. It is obedient. It is faithful. But it is alert and cautious at the same time. It loves its master like nothing else in this world. It is the epitome of faithfulness. It loves its master with all its heart and life. Yet, it will never eat anything without sniffing to ensure that the food offered by its master is safe for its consumption. It is not that it does not trust its master. It does. But it finds wisdom in double-checking for reassurance’s sake.
Do Not Depend on Anyone
Never depend on anyone for anything if you can do it yourself. I am sure you have heard this famous quote of Albert Einstein: “I am thankful for all of those who said ‘NO’ to me. It’s because of them I’m doing it myself.” You may be surprised to hear this, but Elon Musk followed this in letter and spirit and went on to become the world’s richest man! Elon wanted a safe payment method, so he created PAYPAL. He wanted to drive an electric car, so he founded TESLA Motors. He wanted to go to space, so he created SPACE-X. He was sick of slow transportation, so he is developing HYPERLOOP. He achieved success by not waiting for someone to show up and do what he wanted. He became the richest man on earth by following the ‘Do-it-yourself’ method. Today, He is changing the world like no one else.
These are the three golden rules that would help you to maintain your dignity and honour in addition to being successful in life.
